Resources for Finding Scuba Diving Employment In Recreational Diving

Scuba diving employment is something many divers think about. They dream about changing from a diver who lives to dive to one that dives for a living. It is a great feeling to be able to travel to some of the most exotic places on the planet and get paid for what you love to do.

But how do you find a scuba job? Do you pick up the newspaper and check the classified ads? Do you search the internet? Finding a job in recreational diving can be a bit overwhelming but with the right resources (and a little luck) a diver can find their dream job.

Have a question about how to find your perfect dive job?.

Let us help find the answer to your question about job opportunities in scuba diving!

The In Your Face Method of Getting a Dive Job

One of the best ways to get diving jobs is to go to the source. Show up on the door step of a dive shop (especially one that is very busy) with your dive gear in hand and tell them you are looking for scuba diving employment.

As a former dive shop manager I know this works. When a dive shop manager has the choice of hiring someone who has sent them a CV (resume) from half way around the world or someone who is standing in their office or dive shop, guess who will get hired? That's right. The one who is in their face will get the job 90 percent of the time.

Some divers will do this while they are on vacation. Not only will they look for a scuba job where they are diving, they will visit other dive shops in the area looking for diving work. Some will start simply by helping the dive staff. This is a great way to show their skills to the dive shop manager. Enthusiasm and desire can often open the door to scuba diving employment.

Using a School to Find Scuba Diving Jobs

Another way to find a scuba job is through the placement agency at a diving school. Many divers will go to a diving school for advanced training and certification. Most of these schools will help graduates find diving jobs. Here are two of the best known diving schools.

Pro Dive International I have worked with instructors who have graduated from Pro Dive and I have found them to be highly trained diving professionals. Pro Dive can take you from open water certification to Master Scuba Diver Trainer and IDC Staff Instructor. They also offer certification in many technical fields of diving. They are PADI's first Career Development Center in the world. They are located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Bob Brayman's International Diving Career Institute Located at Hall's diving Center on Marathon, in the Florida Keys Bob Brayman's Institute has been training divers since 1978. They have had a 100 percent placement rate for the last ten years. Their record speaks for itself.
