How do I become qualified to work in the scuba diving field. Do I have to attend any school (theres one in BC) or is this a waste of money and time? If I do go to school for this will the schooling help me to have a higher postition or not?
Answer:
Hi Kristi,
It's great that you are interested in a career in scuba diving. Like any career, it does require training (going to school). The type and length of training will depend on what kind of scuba job you are looking for. Training as a commercial diver will be the most involved and take the most time. Training to work in the recreational diving industry will take you less time.
Scuba diving schools will not only teach you the skills needed for certain scuba jobs, they will also teach you how to work safely underwater.
The time and money you spend to go to a scuba diving school will not be wasted. With the training the schools offer, you will earn the certifications required for scuba jobs in.
I hope this information has been hepful. I have a lot more information about scuba jobs and schools on my scuba diving career pages.
